We dag in the Maryland hip-hop/r&b music scene  to discover some interesting artists.

When we talk about Maryland, Oddisee and Logic are the names that immediately come to mind but as you know each corners of this crazy world hide talented independent rookies which jostle for space on da music biz!

Today we invite our fans to get familiar with an artist which excited our senses with his project entitled Baby Father.

We’re talking about Jeremy Gabriel aka Yaj an emerging singer/songwriter from a Maryland’s county called Prince Georges County.

Member of the collective Bottega , Yaj impressed us with incredible vocal prowess that reminds us r&b performers such as Frank Ocean and Corey Latif Williams.

Inspired by acts like Prince,Frank Ocean, Billie Holiday,Kendrick Lamar and Stevie Wonder, Yaj is ready to flex his boundless abilities through the mellow project Baby Father that includes the ultra-soulful piece titled Vanilla Skies.

Yaj explains the importance of Stevie Wonder and his influence:

” My dad used to play Stevie Wonder. I remember that “Songs In The Key Of Life” album when I was a kid. I mean, like those harmonies in a song like “Love’s in need of Love Today”, and even my song Vanilla Skies has lyrics inspired from his song “Saturn” on that album. That story-telling, honesty, mental pictures and lil fantasy, are all things i try to bring into my writing.    “
Produced by Washington beat-architect William Wade aka LogikBomb , Vanilla Skies got sweet like honey harmonies that perfectly fit Yaj laid-back approach.
Definitley an archaic rapture!!!
