THE HUE FEAT. CHRIS DAVE AND DERRICK HODGE - FIYAH FLIES scratchtheblockWe discovered the experimental hip-hop collective The Hue last year thanks the homies at RYK (Rappers I Know) . Consisting of songstress/femcee Spacebunny Jefferson, emcees Scottie Spitten, Equality, and Savvi, along with producers King Midas and DJ Cozmos , The Hue impressed us with the single entitled Slick featuring Ladybug Mecca known for her role in the jazz-hop group Digable Planets. The joint (peep the official video) is a sublime blend of jazz and hip-hop.

Recently The Hue dropped the album called Aurora and damn….. definitely something is well worth listening to. A superb,well-appointed hip-hop album contaminated with jazz and soul nuances.

The track called Fiyah Flies is a perfect example of the refined atmosphere that permeates the entire opus. Renowned and visionary jazz drummer/producer Chris “Daddy” Dave and Robert Glasper Experiment gifted bassist Derrick Hodge take the track to a higher level with their artistry.

This is hip-hop music for sensitive ears, this is hip-hop music for cool minds, this is hip-hop music for those who avoid to lock up hip-hop inside convential frontier!
