 She’s a terribly beautiful woman, she’s an extra-talented artist,her music is a ear-catchy and balanced blend of neo-soul and hip-hop rhythm! We’re talking about U.K singer/songwriter Zilo and we guarantee a massive dose of quality music on her soundcloud page. Scratchtheblock.com highly recommends to taste the superlative Cure & The Cause! The seductive and warm voice of Zilo glides over the supa-dupa groovy n soulful beat cooked by the hip-hop mogul J.Dilla. Zilo decides to use the same sample used by Dilla brother Illa J for the track titled Swagger included on Yancey Boys album.We’re waiting for a debut project by Zilo but in the meantime make sure you to vibe with this brilliant joint.

We can assert Potatohead People are one of the best choice if you’re fans of soulful and boomb-bap rhythm a la Jay Dee and we decided to include on Stay Mellow Vol.11 , one of their best production called Whatever It Is,It’s Working. It’s an outstanding collaboration alongisde Frank Nitt (check out his last work Frankie Rothstein),  Illa J (don’t miss the Illa J album) and talented New York beatmaker/emcee/instrumentalist/producer Jon Rogers.

NEW EDITION – SOMETHING ABOUT YOU (PRODUCED BY JIMMY JAM AND TERRY LEWIS) 

Back in 1996 when r&b band New Edition dropped their sixth studio album called Home Again produced by eminent hit-makers such as P.Diddy,Chuck Thompson,Jermaine Dupri and production team Jimmy Jam & Terry Lewis (their extended production credit includes works for Janet Jackson,George Michael,Mint Condition,Shabba Ranks and many others) who creating something epic with Something About You taking advantage of the sample of What I Am by singer-songwriter Edie Arlisa Brickell

Time to introduce an interesting neo-soul singer: Kenya Lynn Whitlow better known by the stage name Kenya Soulsinger.The Oklahoma native songstress/songwriter engaged our attention with a music that combines neo-soul, R&B, a lil bit of Jazz, Funk and a pinch of Hip Hop. Today we spotlight her talent selecting something from her sophomore project titled Love You To Life released two years ago and produced by multi-talented producer Spyda ” The Wise Musician” )

JOY POSTELL – SEATTLE FREESTYLE (PRODUCED BY WUF)

Baltimore emerging singer Joy Postell is trying to position herself on the music map flexing her abilities and we have to admit she got game! We started to showcase Ms.Postell with the impressive tune titled Summer Time produced by AiRLOCKE and then we recommended another interesting tune titled HYD produced by B Smooth. Today she confirms her talent with a recent treat called Seattle Freestyle.Wow….her divine voice perfectly fits with the masterful extra-mellow and groovy instrumental finely cooked by italian beatmaker Wuf . Wuf beats reflect a penchant for jazz n lo-fi hip-hop soulful music! Joy and Wuf…..def a match made in heaven!

BRUCE GARDNER – TAKE YOU THERE

Maryland based singer/songwriter/producer Bruce”Kool-Aid” Gardner is a neo-soul artist deeply influenced by Stevie Wonder, Miles Davis, Prince, Marvin Gaye, Michael Jackson and Barry White. We highly recommend to close your eyes to appreciate the seductive relaxing flow and the impressive laid back vocals with the tune titled Take You There.
