TAHIRAH MEMORY FEAT. JARROD LAWSON – ALL THE TIME

Take notes and remember the name: Tahirah Memory. The Portland singer/songwriter  burst onto our radar  with her superlative opus called Pride co-produced by jazz/soul singer/songwriter/musician Jarrod Lawson. Equipped with a velvety voice and an interesting musical pedigree deeply rooted in jazz (her father is a jazz trumpeter), Tahirah Memory gives us a special project tinged with modern soul,neo-soul and r&b sonorities, creating something rich of class. The song called All The Time is a really impressive and smooth jazz duet alongside Jarrod Lawson who adds more substance with his extra quality vocals.

QUENTIN MOORE FEAT. TESS HENLEY – I COULD FALL IN LOVE

If you are a nostalgic listener and you’d like to listen to big productions with live instrumentation, we highly recommend to experience the music performed by Austin native musician,arranger,producer,singer Quentin Moore. The gifted artist has a gospel background but living in a cultural melting pot as Austin he honed his musical skills experimenting blues,soul,rhythm n blues and jazz. In 2013 Quentin released You Forgot Your Heart a project that summarizes Mr.Moore eclectic musical approach. We invite y’all to dim the light,relax your mind and listen closely the amazing I Could Fall In Love featuring soul singer-songwriter Tess Henley . The soulful jazz duet is something classy!

MOONLIGHT SAVING TIME – FOOTSTEPS IN THE DARK

Contemporary jazz ensemble Moonlight Saving Time hit us with their finest jazz finely structured with dynamic arrangements,atmospheric textures and sophistication. The group consists of the singer Emily Wright ,trumpeter Nick Malcolm ,pianist Dale Hambridge,bassist Will Harris and drummer Mark Whitlam  and together their earned a lot of praises impressing the critics with two elegant projects:the debut opus Moonlight Saving Time EP and the sophomore album called Meeting At Night released this year in October.Let  Moonlight Saving Time ropes you in a peaceful place where smooth jazz vibrations and the captivating and gentle vocals relax your senses.Now don’t talk,press play…this is Footsteps In The Dark.

MICHAEL OLATUJA FEAT. TERRI WALKER – LITTLE SISTER

Bassist,producer,composer,arranger as well as performer, Michael Olatuja offers us a stupendous and superlative joint titled Little Sister off his work called Speak. Hats off to Mr. Olatuja for his incredible mastery and great musical vision to create a project where Afro rhythms merge with neo-soul and modern jazz. Little Sister is a compelling collaboration alongside r&b/neo-soul singer Terri Walker (1/2 of Lady) and it reminds D’Angelo music ‘s groove .

LINDSAY OLSEN FEAT. AUSTIN ANTOINE – TOUCHED THE GROUND

Last year experimental jazz group Joomanji excited us with the masterpiece entitled Manji and since then we started to follow each artists affiliated to the group. Recently we spotlighted the sublime jazz treat produced by mutli-talented producer Rob Finucane and performed by Lindsay Olsen and rapper Austin Antoine called Leave Me. Well, today we continue to discover Joomanji world with another outstanding song called Touched The Ground performed by the talented Lindsay Olsen aka Salami Rose featuring Austin Antoine. Both artists engage the attention of the listener counting on the support of very gifted musicians such as Rob Finucane on keys and Amir Oosman on drums.

LEONI LEONI – ALONE WITH EVERYBODY

Damn, Swiss new comer songstress Leoni Leoni seems to have the cure for the trite and unoriginal music of the international music scene. Alone With Everybody is her beyond amazing recipe to stimulate the world wide web and ..yes…it’s simple but tremendously  charming and relaxing.

THE SURE CO. FEAT. NAILAH PORTER – LOOSE SHOTS

Back in 2012 to experience the majestic sound of The Sure Co. The Sure Co, is the brainchild of two eminent exponents of the jazz international scene: Richard Spaven and Grant Windsor. Spaven is a triple threat composer/drummer/producer who worked with artists such as José James (Black Magic),4 Hero,Ruth Koleva,Seravince,Mark De Clive-Lowe,Flying Lotus,The Cinematic Orchestra and Gregory Porter to name a few.Grant Windsor is a skilful flutist, pianist, composer, arranger and producer who collaborated with Stephanie Mckay, Benji B, Emily King, Taylor Mcferrin,Lizz Wright,Pino Palladino among others. Together they joined their virtuosity and common sense of rhythm to create a project where electronic,nu-jazz and broken beat orbit around jazz music. The album is titled 5ive and we selected for y’all the superb Loose Shots featuring composer, vocalist and musician Nailah Porter who seduces with a voice that exudes passion and emotion.

JOSE’ JAMES – VELVET (EMANATIVE’S EASTERN ORBIT RE-WORK)

Producer ,drummer, percussionist and band leader Emanative resumes Josè James debut album The Dreamer to flip the jazz joint called Velvet. The final result is a thoughtful blend of jazz and subdued and futuristic electro sonorities that give to the joint a new dimension! Emanative appeared on our last jazz selection called Ten Of A Kind . Don’t miss José James last opus called Yesterday I Had The Blues

JEFF BRADSHAW FEAT. ERIC ROBERSON,TWEET AND ROBERT GLASPER – ALL TIME LOVE

Philly trombonist Jeff Bradshaw is one of our fave jazz artist. His remarkable ability to combine elements of r&b,neo-soul and hip-hop over a solid jazz structure gave him the opportunity to earn respect not only of the jazz audience! The extremely gifted musician worked with a lot of renowned artists such as Raheem DaVaughn,Faith Evans,The Roots,Michael Jackson,Jill Scott,Earth,Wind & Fire and the list goes on and on. This year Jeff released the great album entitled Home recruiting Trombone Shorty,Marsha Ambrosius,Take 6,Black Thought among others. We selected the single called All Time Love featuring the Midas touch of Robert Glasper and neo-soul crooner Eric Roberson and amazing soulstress Tweet (pre-order now her forthcoming album Charlene). JASPECTS FEAT. JANELLE MONAE – PEACHTREE BLUES

With the main aim to bridge the gap between jazz and hip-hop, the dynamic group Jaspects definitely hit scratchtheblock.com family. On jazz selection Ten Of A Kind we invited our fans to get familiar with Jaspects album The Polkadotted Stripe released in 2009. Today we blow the dust off Broadcasting The Definition another impressive opus that includes a collaboration with Janelle Monae in an unusual role of jazz performer…but…..damn….she really knows how to thrill the listener!
