We start paying homage to an underrated album titled 30 Degrees Below Funk performed by underground hip-hop collective 3 Steps From Nowhere. The project released in 1993 is mad solid from front to back imbued with laid back,cool and jazzy sick beats produced by hip-hop beatsmith Doug Lazy. On jazz-hop selection Walking With The Giants we selected Freestyle Method and today we blow your mind with the outstanding Non Stop Hip-Hop.
BLU – SOUL PROVIDER (PHILIPPE EDISON REMIX)
Last year Houston musician and producer Philippe Edison released one of the mos t refined and fresh treatment remix of an underground piece by Los Angeles emcee Blu. Philippe blends hip-hop and jazz taking advantage of his intriguing penchant for jazz sonorities and the indisputable skills as beat-constructor creating an original smooth and jazzy version of Soul Provider originally included on Blu’s EP titled Lifted released in 2006 via Sound In Color label. If you are fans of Blu’s sick rhymes make sure you to grab his last effort titled Good To Be Home released last year via Nature Sounds . Oakland based rapper Clever Jeff grabbed our attention with his debut album titled Jazz Hop Soul an organic project where jazz,hip-hop and soul are combined to create a stunning and appealing album. On Check My Steez we highlighted the prowess of Clever Jeff and as great fans of this artist we recommend you another impressive joint titled Catch Rek.
COOPS – ON & ON
Recently we showcased the talent of U.K rapper Coops with his stunning homage to the one and only J.Dilla, titled Coops Meets Dilla. Last year the emcee dropped Lost Soul from which we selected the jazz-hop tune On & On.
EAST FLATBUSH PROJECT FEAT. PAYDAY – A MADMAN’S DREAM (PRODUCED BY SPENCER BELLAMY)
Brooklyn hip-hop producer Spencer Bellamy dropped in 2009 the project First Born:Overdue under the moniker of East Flatbush Project. Spencer recruited a bunch of rappers to record the underground opus!! You can appreciate the remarkable skills of this unadulterated producer listening to the track titled A Madman’s Dream alongside rapper Travis Kingdom aka Payday and using the sample of da 1973 jazz joint Salvation and Reminiscing by jazz multi-instrumentalist Rahsaan Roland Kirk. JON BARTLEY – WHITE RAPPERS (PRODUCED BY THE DELI)
Massachusetts young up-n-coming rapper Jon Bartley released the mixtape Return Address counting on the suppport of producers like Auckland hip-hop producer SoulChef and The Deli (peep out is catalogue of works on Bandcamp). For this selection we chose the jazzy vibes of White Rapper.
KOOL G RAP FEAT. NAS – FAST LIFE (PHONIKS REMIX)
Portland producer Phoniks earned much respect in the world wide web thanks his ultra-dynamic remixes, that highlight his capability as jazz-hop ambassador! Mentioned by influential music sites like Earmilk,The Find Mag,2 Dope Boyz,DJ Booth Phoniks gained also our consideration appearing on several jazz-hop selections like: Bust That Groove,It’s A Jazz-Hop Affair,Smokin Session,Them Dirty Jazz-Hop,Talking All That Jazz. In 2013 Phoniks released Basement Vibes that includes the hot treatment remix of Fast Life dropped in 1995 by Kool G Rap and Nas and produced by hit-maker Buckwild. For the occasion Phoniks used the sample of Looking Up To You by soul singer Michael Wycoff.

Underground hip-hop collective INI hit the ghetto streets with their epic album Center Of Attention, dropped in 1995! Center Of Attention is almost entirely produced by Pete Rock but in this case we selected a top-tier and head-nodding production handled by Grap Luva (this man is a genius!!!) titled Microphone Wanderlust!
SHUKO FEAT. CL SMOOTH AND 20syl – THE SAME
German producer Shuko is almost ready to launch is brand new album titled For The Love Of It that will contain an impressive line up with: Blu,Pete Philly,Grand Puba and Talib Kweli among others. We selected the superlative leak titled The Same with the collaborations of CL Smooth and french DJ/beatmaker and emcee 20syl .
SLIMKID3 & DJ NU-MARK – NO PITY PARTY
Two pieces of hip-hop history, Slimkid3 of The Pharcyde and DJ Nu-Mark of Jurassic 5 joined their skills to release the self-titled collaborative project. Gotdamn the project is a real must have and we celebrate the talent of this two hip-hop icons selecting the track titled No Pity Party. Maybe you will appreciate also the remix version handled by U.K beatmaker Herma Puma.
