SCRATCHTHEBLOCK PRESENTS: TURNT UP 4 LIFE

Here we are, with anotha appointment with  hip hop new school flava!!! As you could see, we posted not much music (albums, singles, selections) about contemporary mainstream hip hop. We have to admit that it’s not easy for us discover and promote real impressive good music. A lot of nowadays production is dull, boring and too far from oringinality. But don’t worry, in spite of everything, we are able to discover something that deserve your attention!!

Turnt Up 4 Life is the new selection of hip hop mainstream music that you will appreciate!!!

We start with an homie that appeared several times on da block: Buddy. We recommend something really really hot, from his recent mixtape Idle Time . The track is titled Hold It Down and  for this occasion, Pharrell’s protége teamed up with r&b/neo-soul singer Robin Thicke , over an excellent and supa-catchy beat produced by Blaq

The next gem is a fresh out da box single performed by west coast rapper Jetpack Jones titled Stoner Hill. The track will be included on upcoming mixtape named Shades Of Mary , recorded with the collabo of Englewood talented beatmaker  Brock Berrigan . Stoner Hill is a tune that evokes summer breezy, thanks a flawless blend of hip hop rhymes over a reggae instrumental.

Well, say that Happy by Pharrell became  quickly a viral tune, is surely an axiom and it was expected that the web offered so so many cover, remixes and re-works.. We are captivated in particular by the treatment remix that Phil Adé gaves to the track with his outstanding uptempo rhymes!!!

Last year we recommended The Museum , a wonderful mixtape by Columbus rapper/singer/songwriter/producer Rashad Thomas. We ain’t no doubt about the originality and quality of Rashad music, so in order to spread his talent we suggest ya anotha gem from The Museum titled The Life with the special collaboration of rapper Styles P.

For everyone that love Bay Area music, we are ready to show ya a massive slap performed by Sage The Gemini (that recently released his debut album titled Remember Me) featuring Smoovie Baby (that appeared on Time To Twerk) and Show Banga. The tune is titled Water Bill, a really dope club banger!!!

Recently producers Sean C & LV released their compilation titled Loud Dreams Vol.1 enlisting influent artists like: Busta Rhymes,Big K.R.I.T,Pusha T, Charlie RED among others. We chose a powerful joint titled Live For Today! On da mic veteran rappers Jadakiss,Fabolous,Bun B.

If someone of you payed attention to Songs By Me series by MMG rapper, Stalley maybe you appreciated many tracks thanks also the collaboration in studio by many heavy-weight producers like DJ Toomp,Ski Beatz,No I.D to name a few. One of the tune included on that series is Last Day On The MT featuring Rashad (that collaborated also on Stalley’s Lincoln Way Nights ). The super-trippy track is masterfully produced by Minnesota-raised hitmaker Ronald LaTour aka Cardo that produced many joints for the likes of Wiz Khalifa,Wale,Mac Miller,Young Jeezy among others.

In 1998 Sheek Louch,Jadakiss and Styles P kicked off their first studio album titled Money,Power & Respect under the moniker of The Lox. In 2000 they dropped We Are The Street and currently they bonded back together working on their second volume! Last year they released Summer’s Too Hot a so solid banger produced by N.Y producer Scram Jones (his production credits includes artists like: Mariah Carey,Terror Squad,Saigon,Lloyd Banks)

We felt in love with Tito Lopez when we heard for the first time his cool track titled The Blues, impressed by his genuine rhymes. No wonder  if Capital Records signeed him recognizing the talent of this young rapper. The track that we are going to recommend you is included on Tito ‘s Venting Series and it’s called Homesick produced by Navie D (Joey Bada$$,Homeboy Sandman)

The last track is rapped by California rapper YG.  Mr ” toot it and boot it” recently dropped his album titled My Krazy Life, from which we chose the catchy DJ Mustard production titled Do It To Ya featuring the new star of the r&b TeeFlii.
