THE WALTER EARL GROUP – SEARCHIN
San Francisco producer/musician/engineer/performer Walter Earl is a noteworthy artist that engaged our senses with his ineffable multitasking prowess.He played with some renowned artists like jazz mastermind hard bop double bassist Herbie Lewis, neo-soul songstress Erykah Badu as well as Goapele, Zion I, Blackalicious and Crown City Rockers.In 2004 he released his project titled Fillmore Connection showing his abilities as pianist, playing fender rhodes in a skilful way spreading smooth jazz and soulful captivating sounds. Now taste the super-cool jazzy vibe of the track titled Searchin. So smooth,so seductive, so classy.
THE SOCIETY FEAT. OVASOUL 7 – HOW’S LIFE
Allow us to introduce The Society! It’s an avant-garde experimental jazz group composed by Thomas Hass and Tommy Gregersen. Thomas Hass Christiensen is a danish jazz saxophonist,composer and producer with a particular penchant for hardbop and Tommy Gregersen is a record producer (Usher,One Direction among others). In 1999 they joined their skills to work on a Nu-Jazz,Nu-Soul experimental project under the moniker of The Society. In 2005 The Society released the full-length album titled Electronic Bionic a concept project where jazz represents the main topic around which other blended genres (electronic,neo-soul) revolves, with sumptuos collaborations like spoken-word artist Ursula Rucker.We delight your sophisticated palate with the centerpiece of the album , called How’s Life featuring Los Angeles based d. Sabela Grimes aka Ovasoul7 that collaborated with many renowned producers like Jazzanova,Mark deClive Lowe.
TATIANA MAYFIELD – REAL
On our last jazz selection North Of The Sunset we spotlighted the talent of Texas jazz vocalist Tatiana Mayfield, with her re-interpretation of a Carlos Jobim bossa nova record. We suggest you to grab her alluring studio album titled A Portrait of Ladymay dropped in 2012 from which we selected the single called Real. It’s anotha proof of her genuine and sprightly music.
SOWETO KINCH – HELP
Time to know the works of another shinning jazz star. London jazz alto-saxophonist, rapper, and composer Soweto Kinch blew our mind thanks a mature,solid style that contemplates also hip-hop music. He gained a remarkable notoriety working with several artists like Homecut , Corinne Bailey Rae and cementing his position within jazz music scene.In 2010 Soweto Kinch released his album titled The New Emancipation where he shows to the audience his brilliant chops, adapting jazz melodies to contemporary street grooves.Check out the lavish track titled Help
SLY5THAVE FEAT. DENITIA ODIGIE – DEME
Sylvester Uzoma Onyejiaka known as Sly5thAve is a producer and virtuoso saxophonist born in Austin,Texas. During these years he earned his stripes stepping on stage with Prince and the New Power Generation and playing and recording with Branford Marsalis,Sene, Homeboy Sandman, Blu, Freddie Gibbs.In 2012 he launched Akuma under jazz label Truth Revolution Records. We chose the materpiece titled Deme with the delectable voice of Texas songstress Denitia Odigie (check out her supa-soulful collabo project with Sene titled His and Hers ). Denitia appeared on SAH: Sexy As Hell selection
NICOLA CONTE FEAT. JOSE JAMES – LIKE LEAVES IN THE WIND
Italian prominent jazz guitarist,producer, arranger, and composer Nicola Conte leaps back with his last sumptuous album titled Free Soul . He confirms his class , creating another gem in the wake of his previous compelling project Jet Sounds,Rituals and Love and Revolution. We focus our attention on his 2008 album titled Rituals,that received positive reviews thanks quality blends of bossa nova,latin rhythms and refined jazz played by very good musicians from the Italian jazz scene. Pay attention and enjoy the sprightly rhythm of Like Leaves In the Wind, featuring one of the most renowned jazz vocalist, Jose James (he appeared also on So What! , In A Jazz Mood , Jazz Is The Keyword )
LATRELL WIGFALL – ANGEL
South Carolina artist Latrell Wigfall teamed up with his wife Breland releasing on his soundcloud a great re-interpretation of Anita Baker classic titled Angel. Unfortunately we ain’t got info about him but sometimes music is able to speak much better than a thousand of words.
INCOGNITO FEAT. MAYSA – DEEP WATERS
Back in da 1993 to resume one of the most compelling album by U.K acid jazz band Incognito titled Positivity released under the label Talkin Loud. To satisfy your appetite we deliver the gem titled Deep Waters with the collabo of Baltimore neo-soul/jazz vocalist Maysa Leak . Jean-Paul ‘Bluey’ Maunick and co. appeared on Da Jazz Hunters
AHMED SIROUR FEAT. CLEVELAND P.JONES – SENSITIVE
Brooklyn pianist,keyboardist,composer,arranger and producer Ahmed Sirour is an example of class and quality. His craft contemplates a wide and colourful array of genres from jazz to house as well as neo-soul. Prominent DJ Gilles Peterson included Ahmed track titled Sensitive written and performed by South Carolina soul singer Cleveland P Jones on the compilation Brownswood Bubblers Seven
ANAM OWILI-EGER – THE MOMENT
Last but not least one of the most impressive discovery , Anam Owili-Eger. With a masterful prowess as musician and an exciting souflul voice that reminds veteran neo-soul singer Brian McKnight , Anam definitely tugged our heartstrings with his jazz masterpiece titled These Subtle Declarations EP .
