DJ KO FEAT. PHONTE,WORDSWORTH,K-HILL AND MASTA ACE – LADDER OF SUCCESS (SCOTTIE ROYAL REMIX)

Mad props to Elementality Productions founder and owner DJ K.O. 8 years ago the New Jersey native dropped a remarkable compilation entitled Picture This pairing up incredible producers and skilful performers in order to provide a must have hip-hop sonic experience! Picture This boasts appearances from hitmakers such as 9th Wonder,Buckwild,Illmind,Ayatollah and Black Milk plus dope spitters such as Talib Kweli,Elzhi,Diamond D,Kenn Starr,Median among others. Gifted multi-instrumentalist and sampling producer Scottie Royal get inspiration from DJ K.O’s Picture This, in particular from New Jersey producer Jeff Baranowski aka Anaogic (he worked with AZ, Talib Kweli, KRS One, GLC, Sean Price,  Finale, Kev Brown, Dilated Peoples) cut called Ladder Of Success. Gotdamn, Scottie Royal cooked a sought-after soulful instrumental that perfectly fits with the dynamic verses of the guest rappers Phonte Coleman,Wordsworth,K-Hill and veteran emcee Masta Ace. Influenced by hip-hop guru like J.Dilla,Pete Rock and Grand Negaz , Scottie Royal is an artist that got so much class that runs through his vein.

DE LA SOUL – TRYING PEOPLE (PRODUCED BY DEF 2 U)

Plug Two,Maseo and Posdnuos contributed to write the history of hip-hop but they are also a rare example of longevity infact last year they launched a KickStarter campaign reaching $600,874 to help bring a new project to life. De La annunced a hot line up of guests that will include Damon Albarn,Pete Rock,Usher,Roc Marciano. Anyway, today we resume De La Soul 6th album AOI:BIONIX to hit y’all with one of our favorite De La joints: Trying People.  To realize the musical integrity of De La Soul you have to think this joint has been recorded 12 years after their debut project 3 Feet High And Rising! Well, their music is always a landmark for everyone who would love to play hip-hop old-school-esque music. Trying People is a finest production handled by production duo Def 2 U (composed by Neal Forrester and Posdnuos brother Lucious Mercer) that used the sample of a 1972 piece by The 5th Dimension.

CUNNINLYNGUISTS – THE PARK (FRESH AIR)

We proceed to cast an eye over the underground hip-hop landscape! The southern vibe of da hip-hop group Cunninlynguists caught the attention and respect of many hip-hop listeners and critics since their debut in 2002. The agile rhymes spat by Deacon The Villain & Natti and the eclectic mentality of producer Kno sound like a magical potion able to bewitch a wide and heterogeneous range of people.In 2007 CunninLynguists released Dirty Acres enlisting some hip-hop acts like Devin the Dude, Big Rub and Phonte. On this project Kno turns the beat down to set the mood as you can realize experiencing the superb jam called The Park. We bet y’all will appreciate it!

MILES JONES FEAT. SHAD K – SAY WHAT (PRODUCED BY SLAKAH THE BEATCHILD)

Miles Jones is an all-accomplished artist :producer,DJ,songwriter,rapper and founder of the label Mojo Records.The canadian performer shared the stage with seminal acts , opening for KRS-One,Raekwon and Souls Of Mischief. In 2011 Miles Jones unleashed Runaway Jones counting on the support of hip-hop masterminds such as Black Milk and Boi-1da. We highly recommend to listen closely the masterpiece titled Say What finely produced by one of the most bright artist that canadian music scene has to offer: Slakah The Beatchild. Beatchild got the vibe,got the rhythm,got the groove to make always something big with an eclectic approach that positions him as a respected hip-hop and neo-soul producer. NICOLAY FEAT. VON PEA – 1ST DATE

Dutch producer Nicolay  is an innovative exponent of the international underground black music scene! The gifted artist shows boundless potential with air-tight  productions as solo artist (cranking out great beats for Little Brother,Rapper Big Pooh,Kenn Starr,Oddisee,Median among others!!) and alongside his alternative group The Foreign Exchange.In 2005 Nicolay released the first installment of The Dutch Masters , an intriguing journey through his refined music, a tuneful blend of soulful hip-hop symphony and nu-soul. We selected the excellent hip-hop piece 1st Date featuring Brooklyn born n raised emcee/producer Von Pea. The 1/2 of hip-hop duo Tanya Morgan , flexes his great abilities as microphone killer over the underground smooth beats handled by Nic.

DJ TONK FEAT. RAASHAN AHMAD – BEAUTIFUL

Two years ago we decided to pay homage to the Japanese hip-hop school compiling the selection Shibuya , offering to the audience an overview of  the most talented artists with n ames such as Budamonk,Grooveman Spot,Mad Smoky,Mabanua,Kenichiro Nishihara ,Bugseed,Hisanova,DJ Mitsu The Beats,DJ Krush and Cro-Magnon.Do you know DJ Tonk?  His balanced blend of jazz,soul and hip-hop  will knock you out …. and if you’re looking for a proof , don’t hesitate to taste DJ Tonk 12” called Beautiful dropped in 2006 featuring Crown City Rockers rapper Raashan Ahmad  who 4 months ago dropped Low Fidelity,High Quality Vol.2 , a collabo with longstanding partner Headnodic.

DE LA SOUL – DILLA PLUGGED IN (PRODUCED BY J.DILLA)

From 1989 to 1993 iconic hip-hop group De La Soul  worked alongside hip-hop producer Prince Paul who handled the production of significant part of De La projects! In 1996 De La Soul released their magnum opus Stakes Is High that marked a change to their music recruiting ATL based producer Spearhead X,Bronx beatsmith Skeff Anselm and above all the mogul Jay Dee.Two years ago they recorded a project called Smell The D.A.I.S.Y,  in order to keep the spirit of J.Dilla alive. Organized as an EP of revisited classic gems over Jay Dee unreleased beats,the audience can “smell the remarkable Dilla touch” . We chose the perfect Dilla Plugged In! Rest in peace HERO

LYRICL – EVER (AFTER) (PRODUCED BY MARK DeCLIVE LOWE)

With a artful musical approach that flirts with jazz,soul,hip-hop as well as spoken word and broken beat , U.K  lyricist,rapper,singer and songwriter LyricL earned her stripes cranking out appealing music ,collaborating and touring with well-known exponents of avant-garde music such as Bugz In The Attic,King Britt,Aroop Roy.If you never heard something about her, don’t worry, we selected the alternative hip-hop nut entitled Ever (After). The sumptuous joint is a perfect example of a polished sound woven with elements of hip-hop and future electronic sound masterfully produced by the one and only Mark DeClive Lowe, a real sonic-scientist!

WESTSIDE GUNN – FUKK (STAN SMITHS) (PRODUCED BY  THA GOD FAHIM)

Buffalo rapper Westside Gunn made a splash with his third installment of Hitler Wear Hermes  engaging the attention of renowned hip-hop media like The Source and 2DopeBoyz as well as legendary radio station Hot97 . Mr. Gunn teamed up with hip-hop producer Tha God Fahim to record the stunning treat called Fukk (Stan Smiths)…. and …wow……we have to admit it’s a powerful and solid joint enchanced with da sample of Allah Mathematics production for Mighty Healthy by Ghostface Killah.

WOODIE SMALLS – CHAMPION SOUND

Hip-Hop rookie Woodie Smalls popped up under our radar crossing the ocean all the way to New York with his interesting music imbued with laid-back and 90s-inspired rhythms. He definitely stepped into the limelight with da badass jam Champion Sound. The debut smash is included on Soft Parade
