We meet San Francisco gifted jazz pianist/producer and vocalist Walter Earl with another great piece! On Songs In A Mellow Mood we spread something from Fillmore Connection , on jazz selection Mood Indigo we highlighted Walter’s skills with a track from In The Middle Of The Crowd and today make sure you to taste the top-tier They Come Running from the project titled Fly released in 1997.
TASSEL & NATUREL – HIGH BEAT STONE DELIRE
Parisian trumpeter Alexandre Tassel and saxophonist Guillaume Naturel dropped in 2008 the album called D-Miles from which we chose the classy High Beat Stone Delire. We showcased something by Tassel & Naturel on jazz selection In A Jazz Mood.

U.K born musician, producer & DJ Quantic is a mastermind with a solid international reputation! As himself says his music sounds “soulful, alternative, innovative, explosive”. You can appreciate Quantic’s versatile approach to music listening to Mishaps Happening and tasting a wide palette of sonorities: future jazz,funky,downtempo! NOSTALGIA 77 FEAT. KEITH & JULIE TIPPETT – NEW INNER CITY BLUES
Benedic Lamdin aka Nostalgia 77 is another great exponent of U.K’s panorama and his works ooze chillout,upbeat, heavy funk and jazz offering something that listeners of various genres can enjoy. The Tru-Thoughts’s affiliate released in 2009 Nostalgia 77 Sessions, a collaborative project alongside veteran jazz pianist/composer Keith Tippett and his wife Julie Driscoll. Oh God, we can argue Benedic and his ensemble Nostalgia 77 can easily tug your heartstrings and to give you a proof , we recommend the sumptuous New Inner City Blues
NICOLA CONTE FEAT. JOSE JAMES – ALL OR NOTHING AT ALL
Simply one word: Perfectionist!! This is the best way to describe the italian jazz producer/musician Nicola Conte, who as a wise architect, has been able to record albums like Other Directions and Rituals satisfying hard to please reviwers! For this jazz selection we chose something great from Nicola Conte’s double cd of remixes titled The Modern Sound Of Nicola Conte. Check out the collaboration between Mr.Conte and acclaimed vocalist José James for the track titled All Or Nothing At All. Josè James is currently working on his tribute to Billie Holiday,Yesterday I Had The Blues: The Music of Billie Holiday collaborating with pianist Jason Moran, bassist John Patitucci and drummer Eric Harland (he dropped last year the fantastic album Vipassana).
ERYKAH BADU FEAT. TERENCE BLANCHARD – A CHILD WITH THE BLUES (PRODUCED BY CURTIS MAYFIELD)
Neo-Soul pioneer Erykah Badu released in 1997 via Motown Records a special edition of her epic debut album Baduizm. The record includes bonus material like the masterpiece titled A Child With The Blues written and produced by soul legend Curtis Mayfield. The flawless combination between Badu’s voice,Curtis Mayfield’s production and the epic sound of trumpeter/composer Terence Blanchard represent an uplifting experience!
DJ CAM QUARTET FEAT. InLove – LITTLE SUNFLOWER (A TRIBUTE TO FREDDIE)
French mogul producer DJ Cam recruited Alexandre Tassel,Christian Brun,Jerome Regard and Eric Legnini to record three projects with his Quartet: Rebirth Of Cool,Stay,Diggin’. If you are a great fan of Madlib’s Shades Of Blue , we bet you will appreciate the superb jazzy sound of Diggin’. We focus on the track titled Little Sunflower. DJ Cam dug in the crates resuming a 1967 record by jazz trumpeter Freddie Hubbard,Backlash and re-arrange Little Sunflower counting on the support of african singer InLove.
DAVE MCMURRAY FEAT. KEM AND MARCUS MILLER – SEARCHING
Detroit multi-instrumentalist Dave McMurray released in 2003 the opus titled Nu Life Stories and one of the most interesting track that you can taste on this project is surely his revisitation of Roy Ayers’s Searching. It’s a compelling rendition performed by renowned singer Kem (last year he unleashed the last effort titled Promise To love ) and super talented jazz bassist Marcus Miller (we met him on jazz selection The Jazz Cafè)
CHRISTINA REYNOLDS – THE STRUGGLE
Jazz singer/songwriter/pianist Christina Reynolds from California impressed us after we stumbled upon her album titled Songs For The Journey dropped in 2013. As tasteful appetizer to get familiar with this talented jazz artist we suggest you the sought-after gem called The Struggle.
CHINA MOSES – I CAN’T STAND THE RAIN
In 1973 Ann Peebles hit the world with the masterpiece I Can’t Stand The Rain. Ladies and gentleman please make a standing ovation to french jazz sonsgstress China Moses who pays homage to Ann Peebles with a wonderful and classy rendition.
