Damn Pink Mics is the first volume of a selection that want to celebrate the art to make rhymes by talented femcees! compiled this selection recruiting some heavy-weights female rappers from the past and some artists from the present that surely deserve your attention.

Open your mind and spread the word!

We start with a super-talented artist and friend that conquered us thanks arresting prowess and solid rhymes! She is Vainsmith, femcee from Virginia deeply influenced by artists like Missy Elliot, Lauryn Hill,MC Lyte and Nas. She appeared on Book Of Rhymes . We suggest you to check out some really impressive underground hip hop and soulful vibrations on her soundcloud . Now sit down and enjoy yaself with the treatment remix of Everywhere I Look!

The next track is performed by New Jersey hip hop queen Dana Elaine Owens better known as Queen Latifah. As one of the most renowned femcee pioneers, she assumed an important role becoming a prominent figure of the hip hop golden age, performing with influential artists like Afrika Bambaataa . In 1993 she dropped her third album titled Black Reign that includes the smash single Just Another Day. We selected the spectacular remix version cared by Harlem producer and ex member of  Blackstreet, Teddy Riley.

New entry on da block: Noname Gypsy. She’s an interesting female rapper from Chi-Town that gained visibility thanks her collabo with Chance The Rapper on his acclaimed mixtape Acid Rap. She caught our attention with the heatrock underground single titled Samaritan featuring Chicago rapper Mick Jenkins (he appeared on So Fresh,So Clean and Dope Shit ). The tune is a flawless production by Keanon Terrell

Back in da 95 when Lady Apache released her EP Rock & Comeen . A lil bit of raggae and dope underground hip hop flow on da remix version of Rock & Comeen cared by DJ Evil Dee from Black Moon. Turn up the volume for this head-nodding gem!!

New York based femcee Jean Grae appeared on Mo Underground spitting her hot verses over a majestic Herbaliser production. In 2003 she dropped The Bootleg of the Bootleg EP ,from which we chose the track titled Keep Livin. You can appreciate the agile spit verses performed by Jean Grae over the sample of a Scarface’s classic produced by Lee Stone  

The next track is a golden age must have masterpiece rapped by Heather B. In 1996 she released her debut album Takin Mine that includes the supa-hit All Glocks Down. The powerful track has been produced by KRS-1 brother Kenny Parker (also member of Boogie Down Productions) that realized an incredible instrumental . Gotdamn, Heather’s fiery bars inflamed the streets in the mid-90s..

Damn, she was a supa-sexy vixen but not only.. Foxy Brown was able to made interesting and compelling hip hop albums during her career, like her third certified gold project titled Broken Silence, recruiting some heavy-weight artists like Kelis,Wayne Wonder,Cham and Capone-N-Noreaga among others. The album includes the dope single Oh Yeah produced by Eddie Scoresazy (Trick Daddy, Beanie Sigel,Governor). This still is a banger! Wooyooo yo yo yo!

Do ya wanna hear the name of nowadays talented artists? Ok, we think Boog Brown is surely something fresh and without doubt she deserve your attention! Atlanta based femcee earned her stripes releasing  in 2010 Brown Study featuring producer Apollo Brown via Mello Music Group but we appreaciate in particular her majestic collabo with swiss DJ/producer DJ Zid titled Check The Vibe. MUST HAVE!

Bahamadia is one of the most influential female rapper. Her rhymes and her style tore the streets,the clubs up during the mid-90s. To pay homage to a great hip hop artist we selected  the treatment remix by Erick Sermon of her classic I Confess from Kollage.

Last but not least one of our fav hip hop queen: Akua Naru. Probably her tipical style , made her the worthy heir of Erykah Badu and we think this comparison is not hazardous. Armed of a shimmering,solid and mature art to spit rhymes she grabbed our attention with her classic masterpiece titled The Journey AFlame and if ya are looking for a proof of her talent, taste her single The Jones featuring german soul singer Mic Donet.
