Scratchtheblock.com selected ten jazz tracks for everyone that love stimulating own senses listening to jazz music!!

Trombone Shorty  is an acclaimed  jazz musician from New Orleans that know how to speak to the audience with his instrument. He has been involved in many collaborations with several artists: Andy Allo,Janelle Monáe,Rod Stewart among others. In 2011 he released For True with Orleans Avenue Band and we selected a special track from this album. The single is titled  Then There Was You featuring the voice of neo-soul songstress Ledisi. The final part of the track is epic!!

The first artist is a new entry! His name is Average Joe aka SmokedBeats, an interesting french producer enlisted by U.K label Millenium Jazz ( we posted The Chet Baker Tribute by The Jazz Jousters from the label). On March SmokedBeats released the second installment of Smoked Mood series, a project where soulful hip hop rhythm, jazz and soul are blended creating a sound that grabbed our attention! The Heart Break is a single with soul vintage flava featuring the voice of Plaisir!

Belgian musician and singer, Selah Sue established her name with her self-titled album released in 2011. We focus our attention on a  live session during a benefit concert for Haiti, where she covered in a jazz key,a Bil Whiters classic , Ain’t No Sunshine with anotha belgian artist, Ronny Mosuse. Touching!

We posted something really good about dutch jazz vocalist, Roos Jonker on Jazz Is The Keyword. Her debut album released in 2010 titled Mmmmm has been a great discover. The lil masterpiece was produced by herself, playing also piano,saxophone,guitar and harp. We think she is a kind of artist that plays really quality music, she got also a  multitasking talent on her own.  Now enjoy yourself with Still There and let us know your impressions?

After Roos Jonker we introduce you anotha talent from Holland (that shortly but surely is revealing itself as a great forge of impressive artists). The name is Says Who? and what we are going to serve you up is a remix version of a classic by Robert Glasper Experiement: Move Love featuring KING. If you appreciated the already known version by Tall Black Guy or Applejac, we guarantee that this one will satisfy your ears!

Could we avoid to mention Moonchild on this selection? Nah,obviously! The neo-soul/jazz group released recently their “fresh out the box” album titled Please,Rewind and we have to say that this masterpiece is as good as other masterpieces with jazz “inflections” like: Black Radio, Hear To See or Mercury. Sit down, releax your mind and listen to the class that oozes from the single called The Truth.

Germany native multifaceted icon, Meshell Ndegeocello is a most respected expression of a kind of music that transcend from the usual division of music genres, making quality music that crosses  a wide array of different styles: rock,funk,soul,hip hop,r&b and jazz. In 1994 she collaborated with Herbie Hancock recording a track titled Nocturnal Sunshine. The track appeared on a supa-intriguing compilation titled Stolen Moments: Red Hot + Cool that includes : Guru, MC Solar,Digable Planets,The Pharcyde,The Roots,US3.

Maybe you stumbled upon L.A singer/songwriter,Joy Jones on the neo-soul selection Low On Cash , Rich In Love . In 2009 she released her debut album titled Godchild, an harmonic kaleidoscope of genres from broken-beat,nu-jazz and neo-soul.We got for you something smooth: Today.

Berlin collective Jazzanova are the creators of a sound the earned positive criticism and huge respect on the music scene, working with renowned artists like: 4Hero,Clara Hill,Vikter Duplaix to name a few. Today we present you a single titled Little Bird with Jose James from Jazzanova sophomore album Of All The Things that includes also some interesting collabo with: Phonte Coleman,Dwele, Ben Westbeech,Leon Ware.

The last gem is I Want You from Beautiful Life the brand new album by veteran songstress Dianne Reeves. On da new album she recruited heavy-weight artists like: Robert Glasper,Esperanza Spalding,Lala Hathaway,Gregory Porter among others. In this single you can appreciate Sean Jones prowess with his trumpeter!
