California-trio Warm Brew knocked we out with their dope project titled The Ride released in 2013. The excellent work sounds really good thanks also the incredible productions handled by bright producers such as Al B Smoove , DJ Dahi and Lord Quest (G-Unit,Talib Kweli,Schoolboy Q). Lord Quest is the architect behind the supa-soulful hip-hop cut titled Word and the masterpiece called Good Morning for which he resumed a classic soul piece by the legend Roy Ayers titled No Deposits, No Returns. Recently Warm Brew got a record deal with Red Bull Records and they’re working on da EP titled Diagnosis scheduled for this month! They dropped the first leak titled The Mission finely produced by Swiff D (check out the official video).
Uzoechi Osisioma Emenike better known by the stage name MNEK is a multi-talented singer/songwriter/producer from London. MNEK artistry and versatility goes beyond his young age and it’s no coincidence that he earned his first international recognition , two years ago , with a grammy nomination for Best Dance Recording. The young dude proves that U.K thriving music scene is drawing the attention from various corners of the world , cranking out bright artists such as James Blake,Calvin Harris,Ed Sheeran,Disclosure and Sampha. In 2014 MNEK released the slow-burner hit Don’t Call This Love and today we invite y’all to indulge your senses with the exquisite revisitation created by London beatmaker/producer SELVSSE . We met SELVSSE in April spotlighting his downtempo song Sunrise
Robert Glasper is definitely one of the most inspirational figure of the modern music scene. He’s not only a trained jazz pianist,composer,producer but he’s especially an innovator, bridging the gap between jazz,soul and hip-hop. Austrian skilful musician/producer Daniele Zipin aka Mez put his creative hands on Robert Glasper post-bop instrumental project In My Element , to sample F.T.B in order to record a collaborative piece alongside Vienna based singer Jonny Sass titled Standing In The Light. Mez signature sound embodies dark and jazzy melodies,neo-soul elements and hip-hop rhythms! The austrian producer is the genius behind superlative pieces by singer Soia like Mood Swings , Obtaining and the masterpiece Lost In Memory (grab Soia’s Mood Swing project)
The excellent opus consists of six songs performed and recorded at Henry Hirsch’s famed Waterfront Studios and it can be described as a tuneful blend of soul,jazz,electronic all mixed in to a stew of great music. In January we posted the top-tier Everything Is Everything and today we recommend to listen to the slow piece titled 6 8. No wonder if Drake and Noah “40” Shebib sampled the song to record Jungle from Drake’s If You’re Reading This Is Too Late. Gabriel is currently working on his sophomore album titled Jardín
Swedish native and London based jazz singer Cecilia Stalin piqued our interest with her sophisticated experimental project Step Like A Giant produced by several skilful artists such as Replife and Waiwan (who appeared on our selections Avant-Garde and Rhapsody In Blue). This year the gifted singer released The Love EP ,
a project that goes through the trials and tribulations of love
as Cecilia says.
It’s a new musical voyage for the talented artist who decides to experiment a new sonic dimension with a lil jewel slightly jagged with hip-hop beats , imbued with nuances of jazz and soulful appealing sonorities. The British experimental outfit,comprising of JJ Webster, Simon S and vocalist Nara Vorperian takes a blank canvas and let its sonic creativity and eclecticism run wild in order to create a musical landscape where a signature finest abstract soul/jazz bewitches the attention of eager-eared listener. Fractures is Break Reform debut album which earned positive feedback from influential acts like Gilles Peterson and sophisticated groups such as Jazzanova and Kyoto Jazz Massive as well as hip-hop mogul Madlib who used a Break Reform sample on Wildchild EP The Jackal. We recommend to listen closely the deep,dark and jazzy trip-hop piece titled Don’t Break This. On da 12nd volume of Stay Mellow series we met emerging singer Alcordo unleashing sweet notes over a mellow production handled by enigmatic producer Pearl.

The track is a re-dux of Erykah Badu nu-soul classic Windows Seat originally produced by Badu herself and James Poyser and included on New Amerykah Part 2 released in 2010.
After a three year hiatus , one of our fav female rapper/singer Akua Naru leapt back with her last effort titled The Miner’s Canary dropped last year. Damn, you can breathe Akua’s refreshing sentiments,devotion,intensity and you can appreciate her musical chops as rapper/singer and producer . The Miner’s Canary reveals an eclectic approach to music with roots in neo-soul,jazz,hip-hop as well as spoken word. Well, we finish our amazing sonic trip with a sumptuous hip-hop piece titled Supreme Being. The track is a real rarity and it’s included on Drops From Above , the third project finely crafted by Nobody Beats The Beats. NBTB arose from a DJ Typhoon hunch who recruited a large group of Copenhagen DJ’s and producers in order to record quality hip-hop music.
Drops From Above was released in 2004 and it boasted appearances from seminal acts like Little Brother, Black Thought , Jahi, Erick Sermon,Brand Nubian,Nukimi Nagano (of Little Dragon) and Grand Puba. Supreme Being is a classic jazz-hop gem enhanced with the stunning rhymes of the beloved Guru aka Bald Head Slick.
