LIQUID SPIRITS FEAT. PHONTE – IF YOU DON’T LOVE ME

If you are great fans of experimental groups such as The Foreign Exchange  maybe you will appreciate the music performed by dutch collective Liquid Spirits. It’s the brainchild of bassist/producer Manuel Hugas and keyboardist Wiboud Burkens and together they worked on a new concept of music blending different genres with an eclectic approach and sense of rhythm. Influenced by  A Tribe Called Quest, Marvin Gaye, Slum Village, Minnie Ripperton,Leon Ware, J.Dilla, Curtis Mayfield and Donny Hathaway, Liquid Spirits’s music takes shape from soul to hip-hop,from jazz to ambient. In 2008 Liquid Spirits dropped the mini opus Music EP, a 4 tracks project that boasts appearances from Leon Ware and Phonte Coleman. We selected for you the extra-refined If You Don’t Love Me ,an incredible masterpiece enhanced with the so fucking cool and solid bars spat by Little Brother former member Phonte “Tigallo” Coleman.

In terms of production and lyrics , we can assert Do You Want More represents an icon and a landmark in the hip-hop game. Silent Treatment is a precious cut tinged with jazzy sonorities that takes the hip-hop music to another level.Enjoy yourself! Parisian young and talented producer Quiet Dawn is definitely paving the way for his success with the release of the joint titled A New Dawn. The last effort is part of his debut solo project The First Day under U.K label First Word Records (Homecut,Tall Black Guy among others!!!).Well, we can assert A New Dawn represents a high quality song that can be considered as avant-garde music mainly for one reason: Quiet Dawn breaks the boundaries of genres creating an original instrumental where he put his entire knowledge made of a kaleidoscope of genres like broken beat, deep house,hip-hop,neo-soul and nu-jazz  in order to enrapture sophisticated palates. On the lead single Quiet Dawn recruites one of the most renowned hip-hop emcee/producer Oddisee (who dropped this year The Good Fight).Peep out the official music video of the track!! To get familiar with Quiet Dawn music we recommend to taste the impressive remixes for Sarah Williams White’s Hum and Frameworks Calm The Still Night

JAMIROQUAI – EVERYDAY

Fonky fonky man Jay Kay and his band dominated the 90s music scene through a groundbreaking style where funk intertwines with acid jazz creating Jamiroquai distinguishing mark! In 1996 Jamiroquai released Travelling Without Moving ,a project that gave us timeless pieces like Cosmic Girl and Virtual Insanity. We chose the quiet jazzy elegant track called Everyday ! Damn, the bass line by the magnificent Stuart Zender will touch your senses..

GANG STARR – SHE KNOWZ WHAT SHE WANTZ

Back in da 1998 to select something really classy from Gang Starr third album Moment Of Truth. The downtempo jazz-hop joint called She Knowz What She Wantz is one of our fav thanks the tremendously gorgeous production finely handled by Preemo and Guru sampling a hot piece from the past. They blew the dust off the 1976 soul record Summertime by Philly ensemble MFSB to take advantage of the track called Sunnin’ and Funnin. Good times people, good times!

Class, perfectionism and above all a huge talent to touch the heart strings with immeasurable vocal skills. We’re talking about singer/songwriter Deborah Bond who released in 2011 her outstanding sophomore album called Madame Palindrome. Ms.Bond music is a balanced blend of funk, jazz,r&b with an extreme attention to the power of words in order to reach the audience with her messages. Counting on the support of musicians/production team Third Logic, Deborah Bond delights our palate with the feel-good jam You Are The One (make sure you to check out the video).

CLASSIC BEATZ FEAT. SEXTEENSTONE – MS. MARY MACK

Producer, pianist and songwriter Jason Minnis aka Classic Beatz (also 1/2 of Nicholas Kopernicus alongside Seon Gomez) engaged our attention with his abilities to explore a vast range of genres: from hip-hop to soul, from afro-beat to funk. If you appreciate experimental artists that love to blur the line between genres don’t hesitate to get familiar with Classic Beatz Bandcamp page. We selected a compelling collaboration alongside Brooklyn singer Sonya Denise Freeman aka Sexteenstone who offered us a proof of her warm, vintage cool style. The track is called Ms. Mary Mack and it sounds classy, elegant, jagged with old school-esque soul.. The better way to listen to this joint? Take a glass of a well-aged whisky and relax your mind!
