SCRATCHTHEBLOCK PRESENTS: CHECK THE RHYMES (UNDERGROUND FLOW)

This is the last appointment of the year about Underground Hip Hop selections! So enjoy yourself this is Check The Rhymes!

We start with one of the most renown underground hip hop group from the music industry, The Roots! Black Thought, ?uestlove and co. recruited Philly femcee Bahamadia to release their joint entitled Push Up Ya Lighter. This masterpiece is included on the third album by The Roots called Illadelph released in 1996! So solid rhymes for your collection scratchers!!

We are going to talk about a classic from Detroit! Slum Village takes the mic to spit some dope verses: Climax. T3,Jay Dee and Baatin dropped this holy track in 1999 with the classic album Fantastic Volume 2.

Back in 96s when Wise Intelligent, Culture Freedom and Father Shaheed from N.J, tore the streets up with a fucking hot old school single called Word Iz Life! Poor Righteous Teachers were active since 1980 to 2010 making good music and earning a lot of respect from the critics! Word Iz Life is part of their fourth album: The New World Order.

In 1992 Oscar Jackson better knwon with his stage name Paris, dropped his sophomore album Sleeping With The Enemy, from which we choose the track The Days Of Old. Frisco rapper used the sample of a 1977 success by The Blackbyrds entitled Mysterious Vibes.

Do you remember Just A Moment by Nasir Jones and Quan? This milestone hip hop single , released in 2005 is a L.E.S goldie production! The producer of Life’s A Bitch by Nas,Sugar Hill by AZ,Gettin’ Jiggy Wit It by Willy Smith, used the sample of Will You Cry by Chic.

Time to listen the nostalgic ,flawless beat of Keep It Real by Jamal! This masterpiece was released in 1995 and produced by Eric Sermon that used the sample of Summer Madness by Kool & the Gang . There are  few words to describe how we feel listening to this majestic single: we are lost-in-the-underground!!!!!!!!

One of our fav producer, DJ Jazzy Jeff scratches the vinyl recruiting Big Daddy Kane , to blow your mind with The Garden! This single is included on one of best underground hip hop album of ever: The Return Of The Magnificient dropped in 2007 under BBE Records!

Classics, classics and classics again & again & again!!!  Good taster will be buzzing to hear the epic joint by De La Soul  , Sunshine. The head-nodding beat is included on Stakes Is High dropped in 1996 under Tommy Boy Records.

Put together the raw talent of Bahamadia and the soulful sounds from Dwele voice and the result is something really hot! Underground and neo-sul mixed perfectly for a majestic and catchy lil gem entitled Beautiful Things from album BB Queen!

The last hip hop underground track that you will hear this year will be a supa-dupa tune by A Tribe Call Quest called The Hop! Sumptuous flow for the lovers!!! This joint is included on Beats,Rhymes and Life,fourth album by ATCQ and produced by Rashad Smith ,the man behind some success like: Lougin, Doin It (LL COOL J),If I Rule The World (Nas),Fly Like An Eagle (Seal),Curious(LSG).

Ultimo appuntamento del 2013, per quanto riguarda le nostre selezioni Hip Hop Underground! Per cui godetevi la nostra ultima, super-dope selection intitolata:  Check The Rhymes!

Partiamo con uno dei piu’ autorevoli gruppi della scena underground mondiale, The Roots! E’ tempo di perderci nel nostalgico ascolto, dell’impeccabile Keep It Real di Jamal! Questo grandissimo capolavoro del 1995 nasce dalla mente e dalle mani sapienti di Eric Sermon , il quale per produrre la traccia ha usato il sample del sempre gettonatissimo Summer Madness dei Kool & the Gang .

Passiamo ad uno dei nostri producer preferiti, DJ Jazzy Jeff , il quale per lo cassione scratcha il vinile, reclutando Big Daddy Kane al microfono e regalandoci cosi The Garden, pezzo incluso in uno degli album underground piu’ notevoli di sempre: The Return Of The Magnificient , uscito nel 2007 con la label BBE Records!

Classici,classici e ancora classici! Se come noi, non siete sazi, eccovi rincarata la dose con l’epico singolo dei De La Soul  , Sunshine, una di quelle track che vi fanno ciondolare la testa in automatico, estratto da uno degli album che rappresenta senza dubbio un must have per i cultori dell’ hip hop underground: Stakes Is High rilasciato nel 1996 con la Tommy Boy Records.

Mettere insieme l’arte di fare rime di Bahamadia e il sound soulful di Dwele , e il risultato e’ qualcosa di veramente hot! Underground e neo-sul miscelati alla perfezione per un portentoso gioiello :Beautiful Things estratto dall’album BB Queen!

L’ultimo pezzo underground di quest’anno e’ dei A Tribe Call Quest intitolato The Hop prodotto da Rashad Smith, l’uomo che sta dietro i successi  Lougin, Doin It (LL COOL J),If I Rule The World (Nas),Fly Like An Eagle (Seal),Curious(LSG).Godetevi il sontuoso flow!!!
