SAMPA THE GREAT FEAT. REMI – FLOWERS
How can we describe da brand new album by Sampa The Great?
Well, it’s not easy but honestly we can assert she brought to us a body of work that can soothes, invigorates, creates whole new memories, and even changes your entire mood.
Born in Zambia, raised in Botswana and currently based in Sydney, Sampa Tembo aka Sampa The Great is an artist truly connected to her African roots and it flows in her music, which exudes and pulses with african rhythms,jazz,neo-soul,hip-hop,spoken-word and poetry.
Birds and The Bee9 is the title of Sampa last effort released via British independent label Big Dada , and it represents one of the most interesting works of the year in terms of complexity and originality.
Birds and The Bee9 shows us an extremely gifted songwriter, poet, singer and lyricist able to record a sumptuous project (that serves as the final preamble to her debut album) counting on the support of three producers: Kwes Darko, Sensible J and one of our favorite , Silent Jay (don’t miss his superlative productions for Australian emerging r&b singer Tre Samuel).
Scratchtheblock.com crew selected the supreme jazzy piece called Flowers featuring Sampa’s frequent collaborator and australian rapper Remi
