Da south area got something to say!!!!

Since we fell in love with hip-hop , we learned to embrace with reverance  the full spectrum of this incredible art form: from west coast to east coast, from dirty south to midwest.

Hip-Hop is cyclical , fickle, sometimes opportunist but the most interesting thing about hip-hop is the capability to please everybody: purists,old-school lovers,avant-gard audiophiles and mainstream addicted.

Recently we moved to North Carolina to breathe a lil bit of southern-rap scent!! For da 8 hours-trip we resumed some southern masterpieces like Grip It! On That Other Level by Geto Boys,The Diary by Scarface,Already Platinum by Slim Thug and obviously Just Tryin’ ta Live by Devin the Dude.

Charlotte wins us over with people’s hospitality and soul-food (damn….the 1930 Cheesesteak at Midwood Smokehouse was delightful!)

Our collaborator Mike Lunsford, invited us to get familiar with North Carolina rapper Elevator Jay and his last effort titled Ain’t Nothin’ Finer.

On our way back to New York, we literally consumed Ain’t Nothin’ Finer discovering an interesting artist able to bring back a sound imbued with spicy southern flava.

Born in Charlotte, Elevator Jay is a talented rapper and bright producer whose signature sound is the product of a steady diet of  UGK, Devin The Dude, DJ Screw as well as r&b and soul music.

Jay appeared on Lute recent masterpiece West 1996 Pt.2 as featured artist , adding his impressive flow on da track called Home

Scratchtheblock squad highly recommends to listen closely Elevator Jay new album ….in the meantime make sure you to experience the cut called Ain’t Nothin’ Finer..

Enjoy the ride!!
